SOUTH AMERICA – DUBAI – A mutual collaboration between Dubai based freight forwarder GAC and Buenos Aires port service and trucking company Ultramar Logistics has been extended. The existing agreement now includes GAC Energy & Marine Services LLC (GEMS) and Ultramar Logistics joining forces to offer integrated logistics solutions to the oil, gas and mining sectors.

Both companies are confident that the South American oil, gas and mining sectors are set to attract considerable international investments and GEMS President Carlos Arrieta believes the energy sector will be the areas largest market with the World Bank and other international financial institutions anticipating an estimated spend of $ 22 billion over the next five years. He says:

“Our cooperation represents the right combination to provide a total logistics solutions for the oil, gas and mining industry in South America. Ultramar Logistics is a leading service provider for the energy sector from ports to sites across Latin America. Their local expertise, coupled with GAC’s global network and the extensive GEMS portfolio of services, will provide great beneficial support for the industry, both regionally and beyond.”

The GAC-Ultramar Network was formed in 2004, combining GAC’s worldwide experience and resources with Ultramar Network’s local expertise to provide tailor-made port and hub services to Principals with ships calling at ports throughout South America. GEMS, was set up last year in Houston to offer packing and air and ocean freight services to the oil and gas sector.

Carlos Baez, Regional CEO of Ultramar, says their new partnership with GAC is a natural development as the two companies have been working together for the last seven years, and share a commitment to identifying and introducing cost-effective solutions. He feels the two provide a natural fit for customers looking for South American supply chain solutions plus the extended scope of the GAC international transport network.
