EUROPE – CLECAT, which has been the representative body for twenty two European freight forwarding associations since 1958, elected a new President last week. Mr Clive Broadley, ex head of BIFA, the British International Freight Organisation and boss of Meachers Global Logistics, the Southampton based supply chain and freight transport group, took up the post the day before CLECAT’s annual conference on the 3rd December.

Mr Broadley will succeed Mr Jean-Claude Delen who will take over as president of FIATA. CLECAT represents groups who in turn speak for over 19,000 companies with over a million employees in forwarding, logistic and customs services positions. Freight forwarders are an essential part of the supply chain process handling over 95% of air freight and involved in 65% of all sea and road transport movements.

The appointment has been warmly welcomed by BIFA where Mr Broadley is a former chairman and he currently serves on the Board of Directors.
