UK – IRELAND - Freight and Logistics specialists Redhead International recently announced formally opened its new depot in Mallusk, Northern Ireland. The 33,000 square foot terminal features a twenty tonne overhead crane for lifting heavy cargoes, the availability of new office space for third party occupation and up-to-date warehousing and order fulfilment capabilities. The opening ceremony was performed by Northern Ireland’s executive minister for regional development, Mr Danny Kennedy MLA, with attendance from finance minister Sammy Wilson MP MLA, justice minister David Ford MLA along with a number of other leading politicians, many chief executives from Northern Ireland’s business community, customers and suppliers from across Ireland and Great Britain.

Redhead’s director of Ireland and Scotland, Mark Cosgrove said the new Mallusk depot allows the company to offer customers in Northern Ireland a full package of managed logistics services and, speaking to the Handy Shipping Guide, he confirmed things were going well with the new development, saying:

“The move to Mallusk from Carrickfergus is the latest development for us in the Province having already had a presence here for twenty one years. Cargo volumes are good but obviously at this time margins are tight with fuel price of course being the killer. We actually opened for business in April but the recent official opening was attended by the three Government ministers and other VIP’s which gives an idea of the importance of investment of this type at this time.”
