BULGARIA – Intermodal logistics specialist DB Schenker has begun full operations at its brand new freight facility in Bulgaria. One of the most modern logistics hubs in the country, the ten million euro terminal is situated in Bozhuriste, close to the international road link between Sofia and Belgrade, 20 minutes from the centre of the capital.

The new facility features two private rail sidings that allow eleven rail cars to be handled, as well as excellent road links, with integrated warehousing and cross-loading facilities.

“Our Sofia site will open up new business opportunities thanks to its location and equipment,” said Helmut Schweighofer, Managing Director of Schenker EOOD.

Schenker’s have also stated that a number of new clients are benefiting from the state-of-the-art infrastructure in Sofia, among them hair and beauty manufacturer L'Oréal, who use the new site for imports and national distribution throughout Bulgaria.

By integrating the new hub into their existing European and global shipping network, DB Schenker’s believe the new facility will be highly important in their plans to further improve their market position within southern and eastern Europe.
