New Contract Announcements for Global Supply Chain Shipping Groups

CEVA and K & N to Handle DIY and Agricultural Machine Stocks

SPAIN - ITALY - CHINA - CEVA Logistics last week signed a five year agreement, worth a total of €50 million, with AKI, leading DIY outfit which has 35 stores throughout Spain and is a sub brand of ADEO Group, one of the world's market leaders in DIY with presence in 11 countries. The contract sees CEVA managing AKI’s end-to-end supply chain across Spain and it includes the management of the Consolidation Centre for all products to be sold at AKI outlets.

CEVA will initially dedicate 30,000 sq m of space at the CEVA’s state-of-the-art facility in Ontígola, South Madrid, to the project with the ability to grow to 50,000 sq m. CEVA will all also deliver freight management services and handle all inbound product flows from the Far East to the Port of Valencia before delivering the 9 million or so product units to the stores.

CEVA have also signed a new three year contract with Safosa, one of the largest companies in the cosmetics production sector in Europe. CEVA will manage the production lines and the operation of warehouse activities for the raw materials, components and finished products. CEVA has been contracted to manage the operations for Safosa at three logistics sites based in Gaggiano, near Milan, where it will move 84,000 pallets per year

Meanwhile in China, Kuehne & Nagel have been awarded the supply chain contract for the centralised national parts distribution of the John Deere (China) Investment Co. Ltd. John Deere, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of farm equipment, will centralise all after-sales services in a national distribution centre in Tianjin.

In the dedicated 5,500-sqm facility, Kuehne & Nagel is responsible for the management of all items including inbound transportation from the three factories at Tianjin, Jiamusi and Ningbo to the distribution centre, quality control, labelling, pick & pack operations and order processing and onward delivery to the manufacturer’s dealers within China.
