UK – The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has named Fred Osborn to succeed Carson McMullan as the new National Chairman, with Mark Bromley becoming Vice Chairman. Since 2000, Osborn has been the Co-Owner of X-Pand International Freight. He has been BIFA's Vice Chairman for the past two years and was previously Chair of BIFA's Air Policy Group. He joined the trade association's Board in 2011.New Vice Chairman, Bromley is sales and development manager at Allways International Forwarding. Sir Peter Bottomley, MP, remains as BIFA President.

UK – Consolidated Fork Truck Services has appointed Matthew Kennedy as Technical Manager –South.

FRANCE – Delta Air Lines has promoted Nathaniel Pieper to the position of Senior Vice President – Europe, Middle East and Africa, effective in August. He replaces Perry Cantarutti who will leave Delta on secondment to the SkyTeam global airline alliance to assume the position of Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director. Based in Paris, Pieper will report to Delta’s president, Ed Bastian.

NORWAY – GERMANY – DNV GL has appointed Tor Svensen as Group Executive Vice President. Knut Ørbeck-Nilssen will take over the responsibilities from Svensen as Chief Executive Officer of its Maritime business area. Both will report to the incoming Group President & CEO Remi Eriksen, starting August 1.

Ørbeck-Nilssen has since 2013 served as COO and Senior Vice President of DNV GL’s Maritime business area. He will now take on the new role as CEO and continue to operate out of the maritime headquarter in Hamburg, Germany. Svensen has been the CEO and President of DNV GL - Maritime since 2003.

SWITZERLAND – NEW ZEALAND – Cathay Pacific has announced the appointment of Mark Pirihi as Country Manager for its New Zealand and Pacific Islands branch, succeeding Brian Tsoi, who has been appointed Country Manager for Switzerland. Currently the Sales and Marketing Manager for Cathay Pacific in New Zealand, Pihiri will take up his new role on July 20.

AUSTRALIA –Famous Pacific Shipping Group (FPS) has appointed Sam Aparo, joint Managing Director of FPS Sydney and Melbourne, as the new Chairman of its Advisory Board, replacing group founder Benny Ling, who has taken early retirement on health grounds.

US – Con-way Freight has named Joseph Dagnese as its new President, effective immediately, succeeding W. Gregory Lehmkuhl who has resigned from his position to pursue an opportunity as Chief Executive Officer of a private equity-owned company. Dagnese moves into the top leadership role at Con-way Freight from Con-way Truckload, where he served as its President. A successor to Dagnese has yet to be named.

UK – Ending this roundup is an announcement from the Freight Transport Association (FTA), which has announced that its Director of Global & European Policy, Chris Welsh has been awarded an MBE in the Queen's birthday honours list for services to shippers and the Shipping industry. Welsh has played a leading role in the representation of UK freight shippers to the European Union and global organisations for over 30 years and in bringing shipper representatives together from across the world, giving voice to their collective concerns regarding the safe, efficient and sustainable movement of global freight. In June 2011 he became the first Secretary General of the Global Shippers’ Forum.
