The new model Citroen Relay 35 Enterprise L3 H2 HDI 130ps vans were chosen because they offer a payload benefit of over 300kg versus the competitor models being operated previously, meaning the business can now operate more efficiently, collecting more books from its charity shops customers on each run. Steven Murray, Group Stock and Logistics Manager for World of Books commented:
“The efficiency of our Charity Collection Service is crucial to the success of our business. We are confident that our partnership with TOM will help us to deliver significant efficiency and savings. Our van fleet will cover over 3.75 million miles per annum so the right van with a focused support solution is vital.”
The new contract hire deal includes repairs, servicing, maintenance, road fund licence, worn tyre replacement and replacement vehicles to keep World of Books moving, and additional features including a loadlok system, livery and trackers all arranged by TOM so that the vehicles were delivered ready to work. James Rafferty, Sales & Marketing Director for TOM Vehicle Rental said:
“We’ve invested in expanding our location network with new depots in England and it’s pleasing this has enabled us to grow our relationship with World of Books to now become their national sole supplier. World of Books wanted improved payload, fuel efficiency and technology and thanks to our integrated supply chain advantage with our own dealerships we were able to source and deliver a new fleet which ticked all the boxes on a quick turnaround to meet their needs”
