BRAZIL – Freight forwarding and logistics group GAC has expanded its operations in Brazil with the opening of an office at one of the country’s biggest and most modern port complexes offering unique combinations of shipping, logistics, bunker fuels, and marine logistics in northeast Brazil. The new office, which opened on September 1 in Recife, covers operations at the port as well as nearby Suape. The port of Suape has one of the region’s greatest growth rates, making a significant contribution to the economy of the state of Pernambuco. Rodrigo DeMarco, Managing Director at GAC Brazil commented:

"Ten years ago, Suape was a relatively small port, but thanks to developments since then, they now have everything it takes to become a key hub for business offering great opportunities. The recent inauguration of the Abreu & Lima Oil Refinery only reinforces that."

GAC operates in the Brazilian shipping and logistics markets with headquarters in Sao Paulo and four Brazilian branch offices in Angra dos Reis, Macae, Rio de Janeiro and Santos. GAC also serves the Latin American market through its Trinidad & Tobago location. Both of the ports at Recife and Suape play a strategic role in serving Brazil’s trade routes with Africa, Central and North America, Europe and Asia. Lars Heisselberg, Group Vice President – Americas Region, said:

"The opening of our sixth office in Brazil and the expansion into north eastern Brazil marks an important and strategic milestone for GAC. The new Suape office will be an important contribution to our global network as well as to our local shipping and logistics clients."
