UK / FRANCE - Modec Commercial Electric Vehicles, the Coventry based manufacturer, have announced the appointment of ElecTruckCity, a new Paris based company dedicated to distributing practical battery powered vans and trucks.

Having recently become the first electric commercial vehicle to gain EC Whole Vehicle Type Approval, Modec vehicles can now be sold in volume in any EU member state. The company also awaits Federal approval for their trucks in the US.

The new vehicles use lithium-ion phosphate battery technology which is proving the most viable electric power source so far developed for this type of vehicle. Having spotted the Modec stand at the 2007 Commercial Vehicle Show Msieu. Frederic Deret, co founder of ETC was sold on Modec’s concept of using available technology immediately in their vehicles. He commented that he knew instinctively that the vehicle type would appeal to French customers.

Modec have already placed vehicles with Tesco and FedEx and are showing strong growth in one of the few expanding market sectors.

ETC plan to operate from 21 centres throughout France using a network of exclusive/non exclusive agencies trained by ETC staff. ETC is the brainchild of Msieu. Deret, president of the Deret Group and Michel Albrand, former President of MAN France.
