Liebherr Secures Another Order

IRELAND – NEW ZEALAND – It seems the Port of Tauranga just can’t get enough of equipment purchased from Liebherr having just ordered another batch of container moving equipment from the materials handling group. In May we reported the sale of two super post Panamax cranes and now the North Island port has settled on three of Liebherr’s SC350T straddle carriers from the company’s County Kerry operation.

The straddle carriers are due for delivery in the first quarter of 2013 whilst the port already operates five Liebherr Ship to shore cranes and the May order is scheduled for delivery in 2013 and 2014. The straddle carriers will stack one over two high and will be fitted with a 50t Stinis twin lift spreader. They allow individual twin handling of a twenty foot container at either end of the spreader and incorporate the Liebherr drive and control system as well as facilitating remote access to the crane management system and operational statistics. Liebherr Container Cranes, Mobile Product Manager, Paul Bolger said:

“The Port of Tauranga has operated Liebherr cranes since the 70’s and they are well aware of the performance and reliability associated with our products. It is a pleasure to supply Liebherr straddle carriers to help bring increased capacity and productivity in view of the recent surge in the port’s handling volumes”.
