US – Thanks to the Woods Cross Police Department we can bring you this amazing footage of a car, struck first by a bulk freight train and subsequently an intermodal train carrying double stacked containers, from which the sole occupant escaped virtually unscathed. As we reported a year ago, not a day goes by in the Handy Shipping Guide offices without several reports of train incidents but this one is worth reporting.

Police in Davis County were called to an incident on Wednesday in which it was reported a woman, Bonnie Jean Stroud, had been asked to leave a local party but had reacted violently, throwing items and using a pepper spray on other guests. When spotted in her car she allegedly sped off at up 100 mph and the chase continued until Stroud, 29, as can be seen on the video, collided with the southbound bulk train.

The film link above shows an armed officer breaking the rear windows of the car until, warned by his partner, he narrowly avoids being killed by the second intermodal train. The driver, reportedly found to have double the legal limit of alcohol in her blood when detained at the University of Utah Hospital, was treated for non-threatening injuries, after extrication by emergency crews from her wrecked vehicle which had been shunted several hundred yards further down the track.

Stroud was later charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of evading police, one count of reckless driving, one count of driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, one count of disorderly conduct, and one count of driving without a valid driver's licence.
