WORLDWIDE – We begin this week’s freight forwarding, logistics and shipping appointments and departures with the announcement from John Fredriksen’s Seatankers Group that Tor Olav Troim has decided to step down from his role as of July 31, in order to focus on his responsibilities elsewhere within Fredriksen’s group of companies. Troim will remain with Seatankers in an advisory capacity.
Troim will continue as Vice Chairman in Golar LNG and Seadrill, also continuing as Chairman of the board in Golar LNG Partners and Seadrill Partners. In addition Troim will remain an ordinary Board member in SapuraKencana Petroleum and Archer. He is furthermore expected to join the Board of Directors of North Atlantic Drilling.
AUSTRALIA – The Australian Trucking Association (ATA) has announced a series of changes to its management structure with Bill McKinley named as the new National Manager of the recently combined Policy and Government Relations units. The ATA’s Communications and Corporate Relations divisions have also merged, with Steve Power heading the charge. The new structure takes effect immediately.
UK – Robert Halfon, the MP for Harlow who has helped to promote the FairFuel UK campaign has been appointed as Parliamentary Private Secretary to Chancellor George Osborne. Halfon joins FairFuel UK founder Peter Carroll at the Treasury, where Carroll is a Special Adviser to Chief Secretary to the Treasury Danny Alexander.
UK – Lloyd’s Register has appointed Mark Bassett as Director of Nuclear Operations. Bassett joins LRs Energy team from his role as HM Deputy Chief Inspector for the UK’s nuclear safety and security regulator the Office for Nuclear Regulation. He will be based in Manchester
UK – Agility has announced the appointment of David Richards as Regional Director, Fairs & Events Europe, adding to his current responsibilities as Managing Director of Agility Fair & Events.
UK – George Kyriatzis has been appointed as Head of Information Technology at Rico Logistics.
UK – KPI Bridge Oil has announced the appointment of Carsten Ladekjær as its new Chief Executive Officer. He took over the position on August 1 and will primarily be based at the company’s London Office.
UK – Hellmann Worldwide Logistics UK has announced that Commercial Director, Matthew Marriott, will be stepping into the cockpit and piloting its air cargo unit, as Head of Air Freight.
ASIA – Maersk Line has announced the appointment of Dan Lauritzen as its new Cluster Manager for Malaysia, Singapore, and Brunei. Lauritzen previously headed up the company’s Ethiopia base in Addis Ababa.
SINGAPORE – Strategic Marine has appointed Dennis Thomsen as its new Business Development Manager, based in Singapore.
CHINA – Wang Xingru has left his position as Managing Director of Cosco Pacific to take up the role of Chief Executive at Sinopacific Shipbuilding. Taking over the responsibilities of Wang Xingru at Cosco Pacific, is Wang Haimin.
US – Claus Schensema has taken up the role of Managing Director of GAC North America Logistics, relocating from Shanghai, China to Houston, Texas. He served as Managing Director of GAC China for 12 years and now reports directly to Lars Heisselberg, Group Vice President - Americas.
US – The New York and New Jersey Port Authority has elected former New Jersey Attorney General John Degnan as its new Chairman of the Board of Commissioners. Degnan was nominated by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and confirmed by the New Jersey State Senate on July 10. Prior to his current role, Chairman Degnan served as Vice Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of The Chubb Corporation.
US – Page International has announced the promotion of Vice President, Patrick Page to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer, effective since August 1.
US – The Federal Motor Car Safety Administration’s (FMCSA) Administrator Anne Ferro has announced that she will step down from her role to take up a new position as the President and CEO of the Board of the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators on August 25.
