Long Established Freight Forwarding and Ships Agency Leads Logistics Appointments

UK – Our weekly collection of staff changes and appointments in the freight and logistics world start with John Good Shipping, which has made several changes to its senior management board as it continues to plan for the long-term to ensure the right team is in place to lead them ‘confidently into the future’, working to a pattern the forwarding and ships agency has followed since it was established in 1833. Effective January 1, 2016, Alan Platt takes the helm from John Rutherford to become the new Chairman of John Good Shipping, based at the company’s new purpose built head office at the sustainable Bridgehead Business Park in Hessle, East Yorkshire. As a result, Seamus Jennings will become the sole Managing Director.

Additionally two new directors have been appointed, with Peter Fitzgerald taking on the newly created role of Procurement Director and Paul Ferguson becoming Sales Director. The new board of John Good Shipping will therefore consist of Alan Platt, Seamus Jennings, Alan Steadman, Paul Ferguson, Peter Fitzgerald, Jon Garnier, Brain Megran, and Darren Spence.

UK – Gefco UK has appointed Martin Rantle, former Executive Director of Sales and Marketing - UK and Europe at Palletline, to the position of Commercial Director.

UK – The Materials Handling and Engineers Association (MHEA) has announced the appointment of its new President Michael Kaye, General Manager of Flexco. John Connolly, Managing Director of Kingfisher Industrial, has been appointed Vice President.

UK – Carisbrooke Shipping has announced the appointments of Heiko Hinrichs and Joschka Boeddeling to the company’s Chartering desk.

SPAIN – Ceva Logistics has named Oriol Bartol to the position of Director of Contract Logistics for Iberia. As well as joining the company’s Board of Directors for the area, Bartol will report to Iberia cluster head, Marco Galbusera and continue to be based from the company’s Madrid facility. He replaces Juan José Yabar who has transferred to Ceva’s US operation to become Vice President Operations, North America Contract Logistics.

SWEDEN – Karin Nyman has been appointed the new Director of Communications at Scandinavian Airlines (SAS), effective March 2016. Currently Marketing and Communications Director at health and social care company Ambea, Nyman will report to SAS Executive Vice President, Chief of Staff, Carina Malmgren Heander. Nyman replaces Marta Tiberg, who is moving on to new challenges outside of SAS.

SOUTH AFRICA – Cargolux has announced Jonathan Clark as its new Regional Director, Africa, based at the company’s Johannesburg, South Africa office, effective February 1, 2016.

US – Mike Andaloro has been named President of global logistics firm BDP International. He succeeds John Bolte, who will head a new wholly-owned subsidiary, 360° Predictive Logistics and Supply Chain Management. Additionally, Lance Malesh Global Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, has been promoted to the newly created position of Chief Commercial Officer.

US – After a career of nearly 40 years in air traffic control and air traffic management, Steven Lang has retired from his post as Volpe’s Director of Air Traffic Systems and Operations. A search is currently underway for a suitable successor.
