Logistics Giant Revs Up UK Road Haulage Effort

UK – In an effort to develop its road haulage network in the UK, German transport and logistics giant, Deutsche Bahn is to acquire 75% of UK logistics company, Redhead International, in early 2016, and merge it with DB Schenker Logistics to operate under the Redhead International brand, which will continue to be headed by the current management team.

Founded in 1978, Redhead International is an independent freight company wholly owned by its working directors. After gaining approvals from the relevant authorities, the new entity is expected to operate over 300 vehicles from 5 regional depots, offices, and partner relationships across the UK. Ewald Kaiser, the board member for Land Transport at Schenker AG said:

"This acquisition underscores our strategy to strengthen and grow our pan-European network. It improves our access to the UK market and the combined resources will facilitate our strategic growth aims."
