Latest Staff Movements in the Freight Transport and Logistics Supply Chain

UK – The British Shippers’ Council (BSC), administered by the Freight Transport Association (FTA), has confirmed its new Chairman and Vice-Chairman for 2014/2015. Taking over as Chairman from Roy Bufton of 3M UK is Gillian Scott, Import Logistics and Compliance Manager for the John Lewis Partnership. Barry Wallace, International Operations Manager for Marks and Spencer has been appointed as Vice Chairman.

WORLDWIDE – The International Maritime Employers’ Council (IMEC) has announced Captain Rajesh Tandon, Operations Director of V Group Manpower Services and Managing Director of V Ships India, as Chairman of IMEC, succeeding Greg Triantafillou of Epsilon Hellas in Greece, after completing his three year term in office. Triantafillou will remain a Board Member of IMEC. Simon Spacey of CMA CGM was appointed Vice Chairman and Andreas Andreou of Columbia Ship Management appointed as a Board Member.

WORLDWIDE – Inmarsat has announced Michele Franci as Chief Technology Officer.

UK – Damco has appointed Stephen Knight as its new Chief Commercial Officer for UK and Ireland.

UK – The UK Warehousing Association (UKWA) has announced the appointment of Tony Mohan as its new Chairman, succeeding John Maguire who held the role since 2011.

UK – The Port of Tyne has appointed Paul Foster to the role of Director of Projects

UK – Marken has announced the appointment of Paul Rice as Vice President, Logistics, of the EMEA region. Rice will be based in London and joins at the end of the month.

UK – Maritime Transport has appointed Stuart Wardlaw as its new Fleet Engineer. He joins from Ceva Logistics where he was UK Engineering Director for the last 14 years.

UK – Cinram has appointed Neil Potter as Head of UK Finance.

UK – Guy Campbell of China Navigation, has been appointed by the Baltic Exchange Board of Directors as Chairman for a two year term of office. He replaces Quentin Soanes who served as Chairman from 2012. In a separate move Baltic Exchange shareholders have elected Peter Kerr-Dineen of Howe Robinson and Bettina Goodall of Clarksons as shareholder Directors. They replace Quentin Soanes and Harry Fafalios.

UK – Former Rio Tinto man Alastair Fischbacher has been announced as the Sailors’ Society’s new Chairman of the Board, taking over from Ross Sinclair. Fischbacher was also recently made a Director at the Sustainable Shipping Initiative.

UK – GERMANY – tna has announced the promotion of James Hosford to the newly created role of European Director of Sales. He will split his time in the role between both the Birmingham, UK office and the Wettringham, Germany office.

GERMANY – DHL’s Supervisory Board has renewed the contract of Corporate Management Board Member Jürgen Gerdes for another five years, until June 30, 2020.

DENMARK – Menlo Logistics has announced Gert Jan van Sluis as its new European HR Director where he will be based at the company’s European headquarters in Amsterdam.

SINGAPORE – The Singapore Shipping Association has announced the appointment of Michael Phoon as the new Executive Director succeeding Daniel Tan who is retiring after 29 years at the association. Phoon will take over the position on August 1.
