Latest Pirate Hijack Was 'False Alarm'

Taiwanese Fishing Boat Safe
Shipping News Feature

SOMALIA – The reported seizure of the Taiwanese fishing vessel Fen Guo which we covered on Friday it seems was not in fact accurate. Despite confirmation from no less a source than EU NAVFOR themselves, the security force charged with policing the region, the ship was in fact merely out of contact with her home base for a couple of days which appears to have caused the owners to assume the worst and record it as fact.

EU NAVFOR welcomed the news that the owners had finally been contacted by the ships master who, it appears, was unaware of the fuss over the vessels ‘disappearance’. The authorities confirmed that the current total of ships held by pirates in the region is now seventeen together with 369 hostages.
