Latest Appointments Announced in Transport, Shipping and Logistics Professions

EUROPE – Latest staff appointments in the shipping, logistics and transport professions start with a veritable table of changes at freight and parcel specialist UPS which has named Lou Rivieccio as President of UPS Europe, succeeding Nando Cesarone, who has been appointed President of UPS International and a Member of the Management Committee.

UPS has appointed Ufku Akaltan as Country Manager of UPS for Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxembourg. He takes over from Fernando Falcón, General Manager for UPS in Belgium and Luxembourg, and Tim Helsen, Country Manager for UPS Netherlands. Akaltan most recently worked as Country Manager for UPS Turkey.

Falcón has been named CEO of UPS Spain and Portugal, based in Madrid, Spain, replacing Wifredo Ramos who has decided to pursue opportunities outside of the company. Helsen has taken up the role of Vice President of Finance and Accounting for UPS Europe.

Taking over the role of Country Manager for UPS Turkey is Burak Kilic. He previously served as the Director of Industrial Engineering for UPS Eastern Europe, based in Prague, Czech Republic.

Rob Burrows has been named Managing Director of UPS France, replacing Christophe Boustouller, who has decided to pursue opportunities outside of UPS. Burrows most recently served as Vice President of Labor for UPS Europe.

UPS additionally announced Mark Vale as President of UPS UK, Ireland and the Nordics. He succeeds Luis Arriga who has been made President of UPS Asia Pacific Transportation, based in Singapore. Vale was most recently President of Emerging Markets, based at UPS global headquarters in Atlanta, US.

SWITZERLAND – Panalpina has announced Sandra Emme as new Member of the Board of Directors. Chris Muntwyler has decided not to stand for re-election.

DENMARK – Bimco has announced Jakob Larsen as Head of Maritime Security, replacing Phil Tinsley, who will be leaving the company. Larsen previously worked at Bimco for three years before joining Nordic Tankers, before moving to Maersk Line.

DENMARK – Torben Ruberg, former Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Vice President of Information Technology at Falck, will join Maersk Tankers on May 15, as its new Chief Information Officer.

UK – Katie Higginbottom has been appointed as the new Head of the International Transport Workers’ Federation (ITF) Seafarers’ Trust. She has worked for the ITF for 13 years, most recently as Projects and Campaigns Leader in the Maritime section.

UK – The Global Shippers Forum (GSF) has announced Sean van Dort, Director of Logistics and Digital Services Integration for MAS Capital based in Colombo, Sri Lanka, as its new Chairman. He succeeds Bob Ballantyne, who has chaired the GSF since 2011.

GERMANY – SINGAPORE – UAE – Hapag-Lloyd has extended the contract of Chief Executive Officer Rolf Habben Jansen for a further five years, until March 2024. Additionally, Lars Christiansen will assume the position of Senior Managing Director of Region Asia, in Singapore. Christiansen will be replacing Joachim Schlotfeldt, who was appointed Chief Personnel and Global Procurement Officer (CPO) on the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd.

Dheeraj Bhatia has been appointed Christiansen’s successor in this position as Senior Managing Director Region Middle East. Bhatia was most recently Managing Director of Area India.

CHINA – V Group has appointed Junshan Zou to as its Managing Director for China, based at the company’s new office in Shanghai.

INDIA – Schenker India has announced the appointment of Vishal Sharma as its new Chief Executive for India and the sub-continent, succeeding Oliver Bohm, who becomes DB Schenker's Chief Commercial Officer for Europe. Sharma will report to Ditlev Blicher, CEO of DB Schenker Asia Pacific.

ISRAEL – Seldat Distribution has announced Aviram Ashkenazi as Country Manager, Israel CEO, in charge of all Seldat divisions and activities in the country.

US – Caterpillar has announced the appointment of Andrew Bonfield as its new Chief Financial Officer, effective September 1, succeeding Brad Halverson, whose retirement became effective May 4. Bonfield most recently served as Group CFO and Board Member of National Grid.

The company’s board of directors has appointed Finance Services Division (FSD) Vice President Joe Creed as interim CFO, a role he will assume in addition to his Vice President duties.

US – Raymond Handling Concepts Corporation, has announced that Stephen S. Raymond, its President and CEO of 31 years, will retire from July 2.

US – Drone Delivery Canada has announced the appointment of James Williams to the newly created position of Director of Regulatory Affairs, US, for its newly formed subsidiary, Drone Delivery USA.

US – Kinex has announced the appointment of Bobby Shah as CEO, effective since May 1.

ARGENTINA – Intermarine has announced Gabriel Califano as Shipping Agent, Argentina. Based in Buenos Aires and backed by Americana Shipping Group, the agent will function as part of the Intermarine’s Americas division to provide pricing, customer and documentation services to regional clients.

AUSTRALIA – Microlise has announced former TomTom Head of Business Development Luke Olsen, as its new Director of Sales for Asia Pacific.

AUSTRALIA – Containerchain has announced that industry veteran and outgoing Managing Director of ANL, John Lines, has joined its Advisory Board as Chairman. Lines is a recipient of the Order of Australia for services to the maritime sector, with almost 50 years of experience in the industry.
