GERMANY – The Duisburg Logport, a project of the Duisport Group, welcomed the expansion of freight forwarder Kuehne and Nagel this week when the company commenced construction of a new logistics distribution centre in the harbour area. K & N will commence freight operations for one of their large healthcare supply customers in May next year.

At 28,000 square metres the new facility will increase the company’s warehousing space in the port to 150,000 square metres and the 65,000 square metre site adjoins K & N’s existing premises in the Logport area whilst offering an additional 14,000 square metres for future expansion.

At the ground breaking ceremony on Friday Erich Staake, Duisburger Hafen AG Chief Executive Officer said:

“This engagement underlines Duisburg’s importance in Kuehne and Nagel’s worldwide network. It documents as well the value of the long standing, reliable collaboration. The company has significantly contributed to the development of the Port of Duisburg into one of the leading international logistics hubs.”
