FINLAND / ALGERIA – Finnish handling equipment manufacturer Konecranes has received a follow up order for eleven of its reach stackers (RST) from DP World Djazair in Algeria. The order follows on from previous orders in May and June for six reach stackers and five empty container handlers to the same customer.

The new RST’s will be delivered sometime this autumn and will offer substantially improved performance over the older units with a lifting capacity of 45 tons and the ability to stack five containers high and three deep, increasing the ports efficiency.

Djazair Port World is a joint venture between DP World and the state of Algeria. The present capacity of 500 000 TEU per year is planned to increase to 800 000 TEU in the near future meaning the improved stackers will be vital to expansion.

“DP World is pleased to continue our business relationship with Konecranes,” says Mr. Joost Kruijning, Senior Vice President & Managing Director of DP World Africa.

“The 11 reach stackers will help us meet our efficiency and productivity goals at DP World Djazair, in service to both our customers and the Algerian people.”

Niklas Brönn, Konecranes Sales Director - Middle East, said that: “In addition to the delivery in May-June this year, we have earlier supplied reach stackers to their operations in Dakar, Senegal and Maputo in Mozambique.

“The recent order is a result of a long-time, strong relationship between DP World and Konecranes, including mutual respect and trust.”
