FRANCE – Road haulage and shipping and forwarding group Norbert Dentressangle has announced the appointment of two new Executive Board members, former Managing Director of Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK, Malcolm Wilson switches roles to be MD of the Group’s Logistics Division whilst Luis Angel Gomez has a new job as MD of the Transport Division. The Norbert Dentressangle Executive Board will now consist of these two plus CEO Hervé Montjotin and CFO Patrick Bataillard.

UK – Julian Pedler has joined Steve Porter Transport Group to head-up the recently announced collaboration with Meachers Global Logistics. The jointly funded role will see Pedler spearhead the business development function of the new venture. Last month the two companies entered into a strategic partnership agreement in which the businesses co-operate on the delivery of inbound and outbound freight from the Isle of Wight via Southampton.

GERMANY – Thomas Schulz has taken up his responsibility as Member of the Board of Management of Schenker AG, Essen, effective since November 1st. He is responsible for the Human Resources of the global logistics provider. He succeeds Milagros Caiña-Andree, who has left the company.

 DUBAI – GAC group has appointed Bengt Ekstrand as its new Group President. He is currently Group Vice President of GAC’s Asia-Pacific region and he will take over in January 2013 from Capt. Lars Safverstrom who has held the position since July 1998. Capt. Safverstrom will join Ekstrand as Co-Chair of GAC.

NORWAY – Den Norske Krigsforsikring for Skib (DNK) has announced the appointment of Göran Skuncke as Insurance Director. Skuncke will be responsible for the Association’s insurance activities, with a particular responsibility for membership service, in addition to running DNK’s underwriting and claims activities. He will join in March 2013 after fulfilling his notice period at the P&I club, Skuld in his current position as Assistant Vice President, Underwriting – Syndicate 2, a position he has held since 2009.

SOUTH AFRICA – Toll Global Forwarding (TGF) has promoted Geoff Partridge to the post of Managing Director of its South African operation. He was previously Operations Director, and replaces Vincent Magnus who is retiring at the end of 2012 after 23 years heading the business.

SWITZERLAND – Agility has recently appointed Claus Duval as Road Freight Regional Director for Europe. Duval will be responsible for leading the development of Agility’s European road freight business and driving the product’s performance and commercial competitiveness. Duval will be based in Agility’s Basel, Switzerland office.

INDIA – Lloyd’s Register has appointed R. S. Sharma, the former Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of India’s high-profile Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), as Chairman of Operations for South West Asia effective from November 1st. During his 56-month tenure as CMD of ONGC, Sharma greatly improved the multinational’s operating performance, while emphasising the importance of ethical practices and strong corporate governance. This approach culminated in a wider international recognition for the state-owned ONGC and numerous personal and professional accolades for Sharma.
