Jayline Protectors Ensure Smooth Logistics for Delicate Loads

Problem of Product Damage Removed for Brewery

UK – Following on from their selection by Bargain Booze last year, Jayline Products report that another drinks company has selected them to supply load cushions for their forklift truck fleet. Birmingham-based Aston Manor Brewery – who produce and distribute their own range of ciders for the UK and global markets, as well as contracts for handling and bottling products for several major supermarkets and other brewers - has chosen Jayline cushions for use at their Devon bottling and canning site to minimise the disruption caused to their supply chain by damaged bottles and cans.

“If a single can becomes cracked during the handling process and leaks then the entire load can be spoiled,” explains Graham Cosslett, factory manager at Aston Manor’s Tiverton plant.

“Can damage is a significant problem in the drinks industry, so we decided to be proactive and add the load cushions to our forklifts as soon as our canning line became operational”.

Jayline’s load cushions help eliminate the risk of damage to delicate palletised loads, such as canned products, by forming a barrier between the load and the back of the forks as the pallet is picked up. The cushions, which are designed in several sizes to fit all major manufacturers’ specifications, are fitted to the vertical face of the forks and prevent heavy contact during handling.

To date they have proven extremely successful.

“I am pleased to say that we have not experienced problems with can damage since our can line went live and much of the credit for this must go to the load cushions,” said Cosslet.
