UK – FRANCE – Even Eurotunnel services have been affected by appalling weather conditions throughout Northern France in a late burst of wintry conditions that have seen RoRo Channel ferry services disrupted and ‘Operation Stack’ bought into play with road haulage operators advised to check with traffic reports and ferry companies before proceeding to Dover and Folkestone as well as other Channel ports.

The Channel Tunnel has reopened but, at the time of writing there were still delays of up to an hour in services. Last night (Tuesday) the Belgian and French weather conditions caused the rail link to close and accidents on motorways both sides of the Channel caused more chaos. Five hundred passengers aboard an Irish Ferries sailing were reportedly left out in rough seas off the French coast.

The M20 was completely closed for some time between junctions 8 & 9 and although ferries from Dover are reportedly running normally now the huge backlog, with traffic still stretching back as far as Ashford, Kent, means considerable delays for truck drivers trying to ship out.
