UK – Ziegler UK, part of the multinational freight forwarding group, has become the latest company to commit to taking take up residence in DP World's London Gateway logistics park sitting in the hinterland of the deep water container port.

The 95,000 square foot warehouse will be the location for a logistics hub, handling import and export consignments, and will serve as home to its UK headquarters. The move represents further growth for the global transport company started in Belgium in 1908 and which already operates multiple sites in 15 countries.

The onward distribution centre will handle a wide range of products arriving at DP World London Gateway Port from a number of countries around the world, facilitating flow management right to their final location. Lee Marshall, Managing Director of Ziegler UK said:

“We’re committed to meeting our customers’ expectations at a local and regional level by offering the most responsive, agile and reliable logistics service from factory to point of sale. Our newest facility at DP World London Gateway’s Logistics Park is in an unrivalled location, not only right beside DP World’s state-of-the-art deep sea port and rail network, but in close proximity to London, the South East and all major access roads.

”This will allow us to continue to facilitate the fast, global flow of goods and save our clients’ money, while also ensuring a more sustainable supply chain that reduces carbon emissions and protects the environment. The best in class building will provide a range of bespoke customer solutions including value-added services, from bespoke packaging to customs related formalities and fiscal representation, providing, as always, a personalised service for our clients.”

The new centre, designed to suit Ziegler UK's exact requirements, is being built by Readie Construction. Work has started and the facility will be handed over for occupation in April 2020. Planning consent was achieved just 24 days after submission thanks to an enterprising Local Development Order, which enables Thurrock Council to give developments the go-ahead within 28 days as long as the application meets set criteria. Oliver Treneman, Park Development Director, DP World London Gateway said:

“I am delighted to welcome Ziegler UK Ltd. to our growing logistics hub. I am confident that by bringing together different parts of the supply chain in one location, this forward-thinking organisation will be able to surpass the needs and expectations of its clients. Ziegler UK is the latest business to recognise the value of this location and its ability to drive business growth by ensuring the fastest, most reliable transit of goods across the globe for its customers. Occupying a port-centric position will significantly reduce truck miles, reducing container inbound and repositioning costs as well as lowering the impact of carbon emissions on the environment.”
