Help Freight and Logistics Favourite Charity for Xmas or Get Ready for Shipping Out to Africa

Two Widely Different Ways the Wealthy or Fit Can Make a Difference

UK – AFRICA – Now you have no excuse! The freight and logistics industry’s favourite charity, Transaid, is giving all in the world of shipping (and beyond) two possible options to salve their consciences by helping in vital work that really saves lives and eases the situation for many far less fortunate than themselves.

Option one is calculated to give you a warm fuzzy feeling at your undoubted generosity over the Christmas period by funding a choice of three far from cuddly animals. Sponsor a camel for £750 or more and you will have your logo included in the Transaid festive advert appearing in three industry magazines (Storage Handling Distribution, Motor Transport and Coach & Bus Week) plus a Transaid e-card personalised with your company logo to share your good deed with the charity’s friends online.

£500+ sponsors an Ox for which you’ll see your logo in the Transaid festive advert in the three publications whilst £300 or more gets you supporting a donkey and receiving a Transaid e-card personalised with your company logo in return. A copy logo must be received by 16 November for SHD and 30 November for inclusion in the other two magazines. Decided on your animal? Just click this link.

Of course many of you will conveniently forget to spend your hard earned cash in time but there is still no hiding place! Transaid has now published full details of its next African biking extravaganza and for those with long legs, short arms and deep pockets it offers the chance for you to see one of the world’s most beautiful countries whilst all your friends and business associates sponsor you for going that extra mile (or actually 450 kilometres).

The Transaid challenges are becoming legendary and there is not even the excuse that you don’t have time to prepare, in fact you could be sponsoring wildlife next Christmas before you have to get on your bike!

Registration is open for Cycle South Africa 2017 which takes place 10-19 March 2017 with an incredible ride through a truly stunning area of South Africa. Participants will cycle a total of 450km over the course of 5 days, from the Western Cape to Cape Agulhas, the southern-most point of South Africa. This is a fantastic opportunity to complete a challenging (and highly rewarding) ride in beautiful surroundings, whilst raising valuable funds for Transaid’s ongoing programmes in sub-Saharan Africa. The last African challenge, Cycle Tanzania 2015, raised a staggering £133,000 for Transaid and the aim is to try for even more this time.

Cycle South Africa 2017 is the latest in a long line of cycling challenges in support of Transaid. Every 12 to 18 months, up to 30 participants take on the challenge of mountain biking across some of the most rural parts of Africa. Previous challenges have included Cycle Uganda, Cycle Malawi, Cycle Tanzania: Mount Kilimanjaro to the Ngorongoro, Cycle Kenya and Cycle Madagascar.

Funds raised on these challenges go to pay for all the transport related work which the charity undertakes throughout Africa, from training HGV drivers to supplying bicycle ambulances. The stipulation is that you undertake to raise a minimum of £3,500 by 9 December 2016, with all terms and conditions included in the registration documents. A 13 page registration pack is available here and, when completed, should either be scanned and e mailed to or posted to: Harry Wells, Transaid, 137 Euston Road, London, NW1 2A.
