ASIA – Last week saw the winners of the Payload Asia Awards announced at a ceremony held at the Pan Pacific Singapore Hotel. Now in its second year, the awards, organised by air cargo industry publication Payload Asia, aims to recognise individuals and organisations that have made a positive impact in the air cargo supply chain, with industry stalwart Ram Menen, former Divisional Senior Vice President of Cargo at Emirates, picking up the Lifetime Achievement Award following his retirement in June of this year.
For the second year, Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited (Hactl) won Ground Handler of the Year; and IBS Software, IT provider of the Year. DHL Express won the award for Global Express Provider of the Year, with its subsidiary, Blue Dart picking up the Regional award, after winning the overall category previously. Kerry Logistics, which in 2012 won Freight Forwarder of the Year, collected the category’s Regional award. The other winners are as follows:

GSA/GSSA of the Year – ECS Group
Maindeck/Specialist Carrier of the Year – Singapore Airlines Cargo
Overall Carrier of the Year – Emirates SkyCargo
Regional Logistics Provider of the Year – Jan De Rijk Logistics
Rising Star Carrier of the Year – Garuda Indonesia Cargo
Personality of the Year – Oliver Evans - Chief Cargo Officer Swiss WorldCargo, and Chairman of TIACA
Marketing Award of the Year – Thai Airways Cargo
Media Award of the Year – Etihad Cargo
Innovation Award: Network Strategy – Qantas Freight
Innovation Award: Hub Development – Singapore Changi Airport
In winning the Rising Star Carrier of the Year award, Garuda Indonesia beat Etihad Cargo and Kenya Airways Cargo. Bagus Y. Siregar, Vice President for Garuda Indonesia Australia and SWP said:
