UK – The Road Haulage Association (RHA) has advised us that some roadworthiness testing dates will start to be allocated from next week for July. MOT tests were suspended from March due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
A variety of critics had spoken out whilst tests were suspended expressing fears that the policy might allow unroadworthy heavy goods vehicles out on the highway with the potential to cause accidents. Only sites approved by DVSA as Covid compliant will be allocated test dates. Some Authorised Testing Facilities (ATFs) will need modification to comply with DVSA Covid standards before they will be permitted to allocate tests.
Initially allocations will be for July only. Further tests will be allocated in coming weeks and the planned testing dates are as follows, with the date your vehicle must pass its MOT by, based on the date it was originally due:
Month MOT was originally due | Date vehicle must pass MOT by | Reason |
March 2020 | 30 September 2020 | Vehicle has been given two 3 month exemptions |
April 2020 | 31 October 2020 | Vehicle has been given two 3 month exemptions |
May 2020 | 31 August 2020 | Vehicle will get one 3 month exemption |
June 2020 | 30 September 2020 | Vehicle will get one 3 month exemption |
July 2020 | 31 October 2020 | Vehicle will get one 3 month exemption |
August 2020 | 30 November 2020 | Vehicle will get one 3 month exemption |
