MALAYSIA – After a competitive tendering process Kuehne + Nagel has been awarded a three year logistics and supply chain contract with the government owned Petroliam Nasional Berhad (PETRONAS), which pursues Oil and Gas operations in over 50 countries worldwide. Under the agreement the freight and logistics outfit will assume end-to-end integrated supply chain responsibilities for the FORTUNE Global 500 company.

Malaysia is the world's third-largest exporter of liquefied natural gas and the second-largest oil and natural gas producer in South East Asia. Support includes carrying out freight forwarding services, logistics management plus off-site and on-site warehouse operations. Jens Drewes, President of Kuehne + Nagel South Asia Pacific, commented:

“We are delighted to enter into collaboration with PETRONAS, the custodian of Malaysia’s petroleum resources. Our appointment as one-stop logistics partner is a significant milestone for Kuehne + Nagel. It is a testament of our strategy to offer technology-driven value chains to our customers and further strengthens our industry-leading position.”

The two organisations say that their policies align with regard to a sustainable energy future and Kuehne + Nagel’s mission to protect the environment through the application of advanced, environment-friendly technologies to ensure sustainability for future generations. Kuehne + Nagel will utilise its customer’s fuel, lubricant and petrochemical products when performing overland activities in Malaysia.

K+N says it won the contract on the strength of its global multimodal network which operates through Logistics Control Centres in four strategic hubs, and its ability to offer customers precise and real-time visibility via its One Global System which aligns with PETRONAS’ own digitisation strategy.
