UK - Yesterday the Freight Transport Association announced further details on their twelve seminars at various sites around the UK this Autumn. The events will be held between the 16th September and 2nd December at venues as diverse as Dunblane and Maidstone.

The seminars aim to help operators tackle a series of operational and legal challenges for the coming year including risk management to contain and prevent disruption in the case of natural pandemics such as flu viruses, maintaining the safety factor whilst effectively reducing and controlling costs in a transport operation, and managing relationships with outside driving agencies and their staff.

Iveco are sponsoring a competition for attendees in which the prize is an all expenses paid trip to the Maranello factory of Ferrari lasting three days in all. James Hookham, FTA's Policy Director, said: "This fantastic prize reinforces the value that Iveco sees in partnering FTA in the Transport Manager events, even when trading conditions are exceptionally tough. The transport industry is having to adapt to a sea change in the way vehicles are tested and the way legislation is enforced at the roadside, and all in the midst of a crippling recession.”

At the events speakers from the enforcement authorities and regulatory bodies will be joined by industry and legal experts to arm attendees with advice to help them deal with the raft of cost and compliance challenges facing them.
