Utility Companies Need to Remain Up to Date

UK – Although not strictly a shipping or freight related matter, Handy Shipping Guide’s normal sphere of operations, the forthcoming Utilities and Civil Engineering Conference, held by the Freight Transport Association, may be of some interest to those companies which run vans, whatever their industry, much of the legislation covering all vehicles of type.

Admittedly utility companies and their contractors face a unique and complex set of operational compliance issues and legislative challenges due to the diverse and distinctive nature of their fleets, and the secondary role that commercial vehicles play in the functions their staff perform. Any event which includes a presentation by the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA) however is likely to throw light on areas which concern all small vehicle operators.

A list of topics covered at the event indicate that it might be worth a look at the FTA weblink as they include technological advances in vehicle safety; safety inspections and checks for small trailers and plant; outsourcing maintenance activities; theft prevention best practice and alternative vehicle technologies.

Attendance at the conference, to be held at the Hilton Hotel in Coventry on the 23rd June, will cost £150 plus VAT for FTA ESWG and Utilities members; £230 plus VAT for FTA members (£205 plus VAT for subsequent delegates); and £375 plus VAT for non-members (£335 plus VAT for subsequent delegates) and for further information please contact FTA’s media team on 01892 552255 / 01892 552253 or, out of hours on 07818 450425.
