Freight, Shipping and Logistics Appointments This Week

NORTH AMERICA – Beginning this week’s appointments in the freight, logistics and shipping sectors we have the Airports Council International – North America, which has elected a new batch of Executive Committee members, including adding five new members to its Board of Directors. Incoming Chair is James Cherry, President and CEO, Aéroports de Montréal. Serving as First Vice Chair is Maureen Riley, Executive Director of the Salt Lake City Department of Airports. Second Vice Chair is William Vanecek, Director of Aviation of Buffalo Niagara International Airport. Lew Bleiweis, Executive Director of the Greater Asheville Regional Airport Authority, was elected as the Chair of the US Policy Board.

New members of the Board of Directors, from US airports, for a three-year term include Bryant Francis, Shreveport Airport Authority; Monica Lombraña, City of El Paso; Mario Diaz, Houston Airport System; Candace McGraw, Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Intl. Airport; Robert Wigington Metropolitan Nashville Airport Authority.

Other membership announcements include the appointments of James Cherry as a member of the ACI World Governing Board and Deborah Ale Flint (Oakland International Airport) and Howard Eng (Greater Toronto Airports Authority) as ACI-NA Regional Advisors to the ACI World Governing Board.

The following appointments to the ACI-NA Board of Directors also were announced: Shirley James (Savannah Airport Commission) as Commissioners’ Committee Representative; and David Bannard (Foley & Lardner LLP) as Associate Members’ Representative.

US – Bollinger Shipyards has announced the retirement of its Vice President, Repair - Eastern Division, Dave Marmillion after 46 years in the shipyard industry.

UK – EMS Seven Seas has announced the appointment of Lars Rosenkrands as its new CEO, effective immediately.

UK – Joanna Pohorski has been appointed Senior Vice President, Compliance Services, for Lloyd’s Register’s Energy business, reporting directly to the Energy Director John Wishart.

UK – Norbert Dentressangle has announced as few changes in its UK’s base with former Business Unit Director of the Logistics Division, Dan Myers, taking the reins to become the new Managing Director of Transport and Distribution, UK. Phil Shaw, formerly Managing Director of Norbert Dentressangle Logistics UK has also been promoted to the role of Operations and Efficiency Director within the Group’s Logistics division. Shaw reports to Divisional Managing Director, Malcolm Wilson. Former Head of Consumer Business Unit, Richard Cawston has been named as Managing Director of Logistics, UK in place of Shaw.

It has also been rumoured that Business Development Manager at Norbert Dentressangle, Martin Palmer, will be leaving the company to join Wincanton to head its Business Development unit.

GERMANY – Rene Bergerling has been appointed as the new Global Sales Director at Röhlig.

FINLAND – Finnair has appointed Juha Järvinen to the role of CCO and Member of the Executive Board, effective November 1. Järvinen currently serves as Managing Director of Finnair Cargo and will also continue to be responsible for the unit after his new appointment. Järvinen will succeed Allister Paterson who has taken a role outside of the company. Paterson will leave the company December 31, to ensure a smooth leadership transition. Gregory Kaldahl, currently SVP Resource Management at Finnair, will leave the company in December at the end of his four-year contract. His successor is yet to be named.

NORWAY – DNV GL appoints Hans Tormod Hansen as Area Manager for the Scandinavian Energy market.

UAE – Fay Catsiba has joined the Liberian Registry as Business Development Manager, based in Dubai.

OMAN – Oman Air Cargo has appointed Mahfood Ali Saleem Al Harthy to the new position of Chief Officer, Sales. Based at the company’s headquarters in Muscat, Al Harthy will report to Chief Operating Officer Abdulrahman Al Busaidy.
