WORLDWIDE - Several important changes announced this past week in various logistics sectors including road haulage representation and freight forwarding senior executives, both with those departing and the appointment of replacements.

EUROPE – WORLDWIDE – UPS has announced the appointments of Cindy Miller as President of UPS Europe and Derek Woodward as President of Emerging Markets, effective April 30, 2013. Miller, currently President of UPS UK, Ireland and Nordics, was promoted to succeed Jim Barber who was appointed President of UPS International. Woodward has been named to lead a new team dedicated to developing and implementing UPS's emerging markets strategy. Currently he is the president of Global Integrations.

NETHERLANDS – Geodis Wilson has announced the appointment of Ivy Boyer as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). She succeeds Kim Pedersen, who recently became Executive Vice President of Geodis Wilson. Boyer will be driving the business development strategy of Geodis Wilson worldwide.

US – Con-way Freight has announced that Brian McGowan was promoted to Vice President of Lean, as of February 2013. In his new role, McGowan will oversee the rollout of Lean practices throughout the company’s service centre network, as well as institute Lean processes for business functions including human resources, marketing, sales and maintenance.

US – As part of its global growth strategy SBS Worldwide has promoted their USA CEO Lars Kloch to CEO - Freight Division, expanding his existing US role to take responsibility of their global freight operations. Kloch takes up the role with immediate effect.

US – Advance Storage Products has announced Jeff Becker as its new Sales Manager—Integrated Systems. Becker brings with him 20 years of experience in the materials handling industry, having worked at Elite Storage Solutions, and most recently Konstant.

US – GERMANY – Heiner Murmann has been appointed by the Supervisory Board of Schenker AG to the company's Management Board effective May 1, 2013. He will be responsible for air and ocean freight. Dr. Thomas C. Lieb, who is currently responsible for global air and ocean freight, will be focusing on his position as CEO of Schenker AG in the future.

UK – Toll Global Forwarding has appointed Paul Chinery as Director - Air Freight for its UK operations. In his new post, Chinery will be responsible for developing Toll's UK airfreight business, and will manage all aspects including carrier negotiation. He will also directly control the company's main UK airfreight operations at Harmondsworth and Feltham, near London Heathrow Airport.

UK – Andreas Chrysostomou has been appointed the 111th President of the Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST). Chrysostomou takes over the reins of office from Malcolm Vincent. Richard Vie has been appointed President Elect.

AUSTRALIA – Frank Black has been re-elected as the owner driver representative on the Australian Trucking Association (ATA) General Council. There were two candidates in the election: Frank Black and Allan Clark. Of the 79 ballot papers admitted to the count, Frank received 41 votes. Allan received 38. Black will hold the position for the next two years. Also in the election, industry stalwart Doug McMillan of Wodonga, Victoria, was re-elected unopposed as the small fleet (2-5 truck) representative.

CANADA – The Honourable Mary Polak, Minister of Transportation, on behalf of the Province of British Columbia, has appointed Satnam Johal to the Board of Directors of the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority for a three year term, effective March 1, 2013.
