GERMANY – BELARUS – UK – After being named as the official logistics provider for the forthcoming Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games freight forwarding outfit DB Schenker is currently supplying a full range of services for the Ice-Hockey World Championship 2014 in Minsk which will run until the 25th May. Schenker have an impressive pedigree when it comes to supplying such land, air and ocean transport for such sporting events and in Minsk the Organising Committee of the 2014 IIHF Ice-Hockey World Championship selected the company to provide a range of services from customs clearance and warehousing to local delivery of items such as team equipment transports. This portfolio aims to provide athletes with a worry free games to ensure that all athletes can concentrate purely on winning the tournament.

Dedicated trucks will accompany each team from airport to the team headquarters and venues on behalf of the organising committee and the range of commodities that Schenker provides include the building of stand structures, welcome desks, uniforms for officials and volunteers, mascots, office equipment, doping test and broadcasting equipment and a large range of fan articles and official merchandise.

DB Schenker is also supporting the equipping of the two official fan zones near the arenas for those following the sixteen teams taking part. These fan zones are permanent installations and invite fans from all around the world to communicate and share their joint interest for ice hockey. The action is not only limited to broadcasting, but will also host other festive and sports events such as concerts, playgrounds, mini-tournaments and many other things.

Meanwhile Schenker continues to ready the site in Scotland for the Commonwealth event which will run between the 23rd July and the 3rd August. Again the group will provide warehouse space, warehouse operations including staff and equipment, and freight transportation services whilst services will emanate from the right across the global DB Schenker network and be run by the dedicated Fairs and Events team will run the project, together with the company’s Glasgow branch.
