UK – Toll Global Forwarding will move to a brand new UK headquarters building at London Heathrow Airport in October. The new facility, located on a secure 2.65 acre compound on the North Feltham Trading Estate close to Heathrow’s cargo village, will include 50,000 square feet of warehousing featuring 8 truck docks, a freight handling system, storage for 1200 pallets and a large, multi-zone chiller for perishables. The site will be accessed by a one-way traffic system. Toll Global Forwarding’s Regional Managing Director (EMEA), Hakan Bicil, said:

“This new base at Heathrow will provide us with better access to the airport’s cargo terminals, improve our operational efficiency and enhance our customer service levels. It will also deliver a striking flagship headquarters for our fast-growing UK operations.”

The building will also house 20,000 square feet of offices on three floors, featuring comfort cooling, solar shading and a two-storey-high reception area. Generous car parking for staff and visitors will include 15 spaces with electric charging points. The building will comply with BREEAM ‘Very Good’ sustainability standards, and the site will be fully landscaped.

The new Toll base will replace its existing facilities at nearby River Gardens, Feltham, and at Skyport Drive in Harmondsworth, which it acquired with the purchase of WT Cargo in 2011. The facility is being developed by the Airport Property Partnership (APP), a joint venture partnership between SEGRO, which has a long pedigree in logistics facility development, as asset manager and Aviva Investors as fund manager. Toll is already an APP customer at its current River Gardens location. The new building’s architect is Michael Sparks Associates, while the main contractor is Winvic. Alan Holland, Director of APP and SEGRO’s Business Unit Director for Greater London said:

“We have worked very closely with Toll Global Forwarding on their requirements. This new development will provide them with a secure, modern and efficient site from which they can expand their operations.” Work on the site commenced on April 8th, and a groundbreaking ceremony was held on April 9th, attended by senior executives and staff of Toll Global Forwarding, SEGRO and Aviva.
