UK – The nervous wait is over and the 33 freight forwarding companies nominated for the British International Freight Association's (BIFA) Freight Service Awards can relax and look forward to even more than the plaudits which a mention in this prestigious event normally warrants.
An ever present at the Multimodal Exhibition, BIFA announced in September it would be hosting a special Freight Forwarders Village within the halls of the NEC during the exhibition which runs between 16 and 18 June, to provide a marketplace for members to show their wares and network with customers, both current and potential.
In addition to BIFA’s own stand and workshop arena, break-out and refreshment zone, the Village will feature bespoke Logistics Services Provider Pods, known as Logpods, making the exhibition facilities available to its members and associate members at a cost way below the normal price of a larger individual stand.
As part of the agreement with Multimodal events organiser Clarion, every one of the 33 finalists in the BIFA 2020 Awards is eligible for one of the Logpods free of charge, saving them £950 on the normal booking price for build costs, lighting and power supply.
Nominated or not, the BIFA Awards luncheon is always a favourite, offering a chance to network and discuss the industry, entertain clients and the like. Once again, the venue of choice is the Brewery, Chiswell Street in London with the date set at Thursday January 16, 2020. The celebrity host this year, sponsored by ASM (UK) Ltd, is Ade Adepitan, MBE, one of the UK’s most well-known Paralympians and broadcasters.
So, who are the lucky 33 and what are they up for? The complete list for the BIFA Freight Service Award nominations are:
“With 93 entries from 46 companies, we are pleased with this year’s response to the BIFA Freight Service Awards, which is now in its fourth decade and rightly seen as the blue riband event for the UK's freight forwarding and logistics sector. I congratulate all the companies that have been shortlisted and look forward to hearing Ade reveal the names of the winners at our keenly anticipated luncheon in January.”
