Freight Forwarding Agent Heads Up This Weeks Shipping Appointments

EUROPE – SWEDEN – FINLAND – DB Schenker Logistics has reorganised the management structure for the North and East of Europe by combining the two regions into one as of January 1. The previous Regional Director of East Europe, Göran Åberg, has taken over management of the combined region and Karsten Keller, formerly Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of North Europe, has become CFO of the new region. The Regional Head Office is based in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Ingvar Nilsson, Regional Director for North Europe for the last eight years and head of the Swedish national subsidiary Schenker AB, retired at the end of 2013 after forty years in the industry, including 26 years at DB Schenker. He will provide support to Göran Åberg during the transitional period.

Also effective since the beginning of the month, Mats Olsson, previously responsible for contract logistics and supply chain management in Sweden and in North Europe, has taken over the management of land transport in Sweden, after his predecessor Mats Grundius took over the management of the national subsidiary, Schenker AB in Sweden.

Most likely effective from May 1, assuming the successful consolidation of all Finnish national subsidiaries, Jouni Sopula, currently head of the Finnish Schenker Cargo Oy, will take over full control of the then consolidated national subsidiary Schenker Oy in Finland.

FINLAND – Current Executive Vice President and Head of Business Area Equipment at Konecranes, Hannu Rusanen, has announced that he is leaving the company to pursue other interests. Rusanen is committed to staying with Konecranes until a successor has been found.

UK – BITA, the British Industrial Truck Association, has announced two new appointments to its senior board. Steve Stewart, Managing Director of Crown Lift Trucks, is joining BITA's Management Board, while Victoria Hutson, Principal Standards and Legislation Engineer with JCB, is the new Chairperson of the Technical Policy Committee (TPC). Stewart takes on a General Governance role with the Management Board, until he is allocated specific responsibilities later in the year.

UK – Gordon Tutt has taken over the chair of the Association of Freight Software Suppliers (AFSS). He replaces Ken Gower who was Chairman of the AFSS for the past 8 years.

UK – IRELAND – FedEx Express has appointed Trevor Hoyle as Vice President of Operations in the UK & Ireland, effective since January 1. Hoyle was previously the Managing Director Ground Operations UK & Ireland, FedEx Express & FedEx UK.

IRELAND – Former Bus Éireann COO Moyah Murdock is to be the new Chief Executive at the Road Safety Authority (RSA). She will take up her new role later this month replacing Noel Brett who became CEO of the Irish Banking Federation in the last few months of 2013.

FRANCE – Groupe Eurotunnel has announced the appointments of Nicolas Brossier as Director of Rolling Stock, and Emmanuel Moulin as Deputy Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Group. Brossier joined the company on January 2 and now reports to Concession Chief Operating Officer (COO), Michel Boudoussier, who now reports to Moulin former Chief Financial and Corporate Officer for Corporate Activities, who took up his new role on January 1 and now reports to Jacques Gounon, Chairman and CEO.

LUXEMBOURG – The Board of Directors of Logwin has appointed Sebastian Esser as a Member of the company's Executive Committee with effect from January 1. Esser will be assuming the responsibility of CFO after it was announced that his predecessor, Dr. Antonius Wagner, will be appointed CEO following the Annual General Meeting on April 9.

ASIA – Classification society ClassNK has announced that it’s Chairman and President Noboru Ueda has assumed the role of Chairman of the Association of Asian Classification Societies (ACS) as of January 1.

SINGAPORE – Beat Simon has been announced as the new President of APL Logistics, effective March 1.

SOUTH KOREA – Following the resignation of its CEO and Executive Director Chun Il Yu, STX Pan Ocean has announced the appointment of Kim Yu Sik as CEO.

US – Samina Mahmood, former Commercial Manager for TITAN Salvage, has been appointed Manager for the Marine Response Alliance (MRA). Mahmood will lead the MRA administrative team and work closely with the alliance’s emergency response centre and the US based emergency response and salvage team.

US – BAE Systems has appointed Jerry DeMuro as its new President and CEO, effective February 1. He succeeds Linda Hudson who is to retire from the company. He will be appointed as an Executive Director of BAE Systems plc and will serve on BAE Systems’ Executive Committee, as well as on the board of BAE Systems, Inc. DeMuro will report to Ian King, Chief Executive of BAE Systems plc, and Michael Chertoff, Chairman of the Board for BAE Systems, Inc.

Hudson will retire as a Director of BAE Systems and step down from her role as President and CEO on February 1, but will remain as an advisor to the company until the end of May to ensure a seamless transition. In addition, she will remain on the BAE Systems, Inc. board as an outside Director through April 2015.
