US – UK – WORLDWIDE – One of the banes of a freight forwarder’s life is the uncertainty over weights and cubes and the effort needed by the warehouse staff to accurately establish these and enable true declarations, not to mention ensuring the correct rate is charged for the job. At the Modex show, staged in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta between March 17 and 20 this year, interested parties will have a chance to view some products which can make the tasks of precisely weighing and measuring kilogrammes and cubes a lot simpler.

RAVAS, a group which specialises in mobile weighing systems, will be demonstrating its revolutionary iForks Touch product, a completely wireless set of scale forks that can be installed on any forklift truck in three minutes enabling the operator to simply plug and weigh. Besides the iForks Touch, RAVAS will show the ProLine Touch, a hand pallet truck scale which weighs loads in 0.2 lb increments, which the manufacturer says is suited for use in the food industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, as well as parts supply chains, postal companies and banks.

Both products feature touch screen indicator technology whilst the company’s MForks, the first load moment monitoring system integrated into the forks of counterbalanced trucks and reach trucks, has been nominated for a Modex Innovation Award. MForks measures both the weight of the load and the position of its load centre and avoids the possibility of accidents caused by overcapacity lifting.

RAVAS also produces a product it calls Cubetape and a video of this innovative device is viewable here, showing how an operator can collate and store product information which is easily transferable using Bluetooth technology and establishes the precise cubic capacity on any given item using a simple hand-held electronic tape measure.
