Freight Forwarders and Shippers Flood to Multimodal Exhibition and Celebration Awards Dinner

UK – For many of the country's freight forwarders and shippers the Multimodal Exhibition at Birminghams's NEC is the high point of their commercial year, a chance to offer their wares, take a look at new products, network with old friends and colleagues and catch up on current thinking at the various forums which are carried on throughout the three day event.

Once again this year’s affair, which concludes on April 6, started busily with the general opinion that, despite Brexit concerns, business is good and as so often, the highlight of the first day was the FTA Multimodal Awards presentation dinner, held again this year at the VOX at Resorts World and hosted by the affable personality of England cricket legend David Gower OBE.

An excellent meal was followed by the obligatory raffle in aid of the logistic industry’s favourite charity, Transaid, when over £4,000 was raised to assist the organisation’s sterling work overseas, promoting better driving standards and improving infrastructure. The amiable host’s speech did not disappoint and for once many in the hundreds attending the dinner would have happily heard his global sporting anecdotes continue into the night. The long series of awards however beckoned and the results this year of the thirteen categories were as follows:
