Freight Forwarder Wins New Global Contracts in Auto and Pharma Markets

CHINA – WORLDWIDE – Tenneco, a leader in automotive spare parts, has awarded freight forwarder Kuehne + Nagel a two-year logistics contract to manage its national warehousing through three distribution centres across mainland China. The first phase of the project involved the opening of a warehouse in Taicang, Jiangsu province, serving East China. This facility consolidated all previous operations from a distribution centre in Shanghai and additional warehouses in Guangzhou and Beijing serving South and North China respectively will open in the coming months. Pierre Li, Senior Vice-President Contract Logistics, Kuehne + Nagel North Asia said:

This new partnership with Tenneco confirms our capability to provide tailored solutions for automotive customers with a focus on reducing costs and improving supply chain efficiency. In addition to this, Kuehne + Nagel and pharmaceutical research company Grünenthal have agreed a global partnership for land, air and seafreight. Kuehne + Nagel is supporting the Grünenthal Group with the reorganisation of the world-wide transportation network for highly sensitive pharmaceutical products.

Grünenthal, an international research-based pharmaceutical company headquartered in Aachen, has production sites in Europe and Latin America and through its subsidiaries is represented in 32 countries with products available in 155 countries. Dr. Hansjörg Rodi, Managing Director, Kuehne + Nagel Germany said:

“We are delighted with the confidence the Grünenthal Group has placed in us and look forward to future collaboration. Our aim is to reshape the entire network for logistics services together with the customer. To achieve this, we will utilise our expertise in providing services for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, which is of strategic importance for Kuehne + Nagel.”

In addition to the conceptual development of the network, the agreement involves integrated logistics services such as network and stock management and the global transportation of temperature-controlled products by sea, air and land.
