SOUTH AFRICA – UK - Once again, Davies Turner had the responsibility for delivering the medals for this year's London Marathon and the freight forwarding and logistics specialist, Davies Turner beat its own endurance record with the safe and timely delivery of 43,000 medals for this year’s Virgin sponsored event.

The medals were produced in South Africa by 1000 KM Promotions and transited via Davies Turner’s regional distribution centre at Dartford, before commencing the final stage of their own marathon journey to the Mall in London. Philip Stephenson, chairman of Davies Turner commented:

“We are delighted to have played our part in bringing the medals to the UK for what is now the 17th year in a row – proving our own staying power in the process, we’ve all heard about door-to-door delivery, but this was more a starting gun to finishing line service!”

Added Paul Selby from medal maker 1000 KM Promotions:

“Successful marathon running, just like freight forwarding, demands preparation and time sensitive scheduling. Davies Turner has shown that it knows all about both and deserves a medal of its own!”

The race this year was of course overshadowed by the untimely death of Claire Squires at the end of this year's event, and the freight forwarding company will be redirecting some of its annual charities budget to the Samaritans, the charity for which Claire was raising funds.
