Freight Forwarder and Logistics Group Opens Island Office

Hampshire Based PSP Expands with Cowes Facility

UK – Logistics specialist PSP has opened a new office on the Isle of Wight, making it the only freight forwarder with an office on the island that customers can visit. The offices are in the premises of Acclaim Parcels, based in Cowes and the company has appointed native islander Michelle Navin to head up the office, which the agent hopes will provide worldwide freight solutions for local businesses and consumers. PSP’s Managing Director, Frank Dixie commented:

“This has been a tremendous advantage in setting up the new office and becoming the only freight forwarder with a dedicated island office on the Isle of Wight. We are truly committed to helping businesses on the island import and export goods and have ambitious plans to expand the service over coming years, allowing us to grow our company while supporting the island’s economy.”

Island communities are often at a disadvantage in terms of competition, particularly with regard to freight delivery and collection services, cut off as they are from mainland facilities and conjoined only by way of a limited number of water or air based cargo connections. By concentrating consignments a forwarder can achieve economies of scale as opposed to customers using the few carrier services available directly and often incurring minimum charges all the while. PSP currently has two other offices in the UK, its headquarters in Segensworth, Hampshire and an air freight office at Staines near London Heathrow.
