A Chance to Put a Crack in the Glass Ceiling
Shipping News Feature

UK – Every year organisations such as everywoman strive to push the case for more women working in the shipping sector and you have only until Monday February 12 to nominate someone who might inspire others to achieve success in the sector. Supported again by the Freight Transport Association, the FTA everywoman in Transport and Logistics Awards offer seven categories, including one exclusively male section, giving you a chance to show off a worthwhile colleague, or even your own talents and achievements.

There are actually double the opportunities for success as five of the awards will recognise two winners per category; one successful industry ‘Leader’ and one individual at any stage in their career who has truly gone ‘Above and Beyond’ for their organisation. Leaders will be those who have made a significant contribution whilst working in a senior role. The Above and Beyond winners will be women in any stage of their careers who have gone the ‘extra mile’ to help her company achieve success.

This year’s dual winner categories are:

  • The Freight Award - This will be awarded to a woman who is innovating and excelling in their role within freight (this Award does not include passenger transport).
  • The Passenger Award - This will be awarded to a woman who is excelling in their role in passenger transport.
  • The Infrastructure Award - This will be awarded to a woman who is innovating or excelling in their role within transportation and infrastructure.
  • The Supply Chain Award - This will be awarded to a woman who is innovating and excelling in her role within the supply chain environment.
  • The Warehousing Award – This will be awarded to a woman who is excelling in her role within a warehousing environment.

The Industry Champion of the Year, which goes to a man or woman who has furthered the cause of women in the industry, and the Male Agent of Change Awards, given to a man for similar reasons, are the single winner categories.

This is the eleventh year of these awards making them an ever important fixture on the industry’s calendar and the 2018 Awards will be presented at a ceremony at the London Marriot Hotel in London’s Grosvenor Square on June 14. Nominations can be made using this link.
