Freight Association Appointment Leads Logistics Job News This Week

UK – The British International Freight Association (BIFA) has announced that Susanne Oud has joined its Board of Directors, replacing Roy Baker who has stepped down from the Board after 13 years. Oud is the Operations Director EMEA – Verticals at BIFA member company OIA Global and is based at the company’s head office in London.

UK – Wincanton has announced that Dr Martin Read CBE has been appointed Chairman of Wincanton, effective August 1. Read is Chairman of two government owned companies - the Low Carbon Contracts Company and Electricity settlements Company - the Remuneration Consultants Group and the UK Government Senior Salaries Review Body. He will shortly be stepping down from the Franchise Board of Lloyd’s of London where he has served for nine years. 

Stuart Oades has served as Interim Chairman since September 2017, and will now resume his former role as Senior Independent Director of the Board of Wincanton, which he temporarily vacated during the completion of the selection of the process for a permanent Chairman. Read has also been appointed as the Chairman of the Nomination Committee.

UK – Eddie Stobart has announced Sebastien Desreumaux as the new Chief Executive Officer of iForce, an Eddie Stobart company. He joins the company from JF Hillebrand Global Beverage Logistics, where he held the position of UK, Ireland, and Benelux Managing Director.

Desreumaux succeeds Brian Gaunt, who will leave the company after five years following the move into the broader Eddie Logistics Stobart group in May 2017.

UK – Craig Eddy has been appointed to the role of Director of Operation for same day courier firm, CitySprint, where he will manage all final mile operations. Eddy previously worked for Royal Mail as Regional Manager for the East of England.

UK – Uniserve has appointed Roger Clements as its new Group Chief Financial Officer. Clements brings over 25 year’s industry experience to the new role having held senior positions at a number of major logistics and aviation businesses, including Stobart Group, Montgomery Transport Group, Woodside Haulage and Trenchard Aviation Group.

UK – Bureau Veritas (BV) has appointed Hannah Davis as its new sector lead of its Automotive and Transport division. Already active in her new role, Davis will report to John Lester, UK Marketing and Sales Director.

SWEDEN – US – Lars Magnusson, responsible for Business Architecture Delivery, at Ericsson in Sweden, has joined The International Air Cargo Association’s (TIACA) Ship Advisory Committee as the new Ericsson Industry and Society Representative. He has more than 25 years’ international experience in supply chain management, specialising in digitisation.

The appointment of Magnusson follows the announcement that Committee Vice Chairman Robert Mellin, will be stepping down from his role as Engagement Lead Logistics at Ericsson.

US – Oakland business leader Cestra Butner has been elected President of the Port of Oakland’s governing Board. Commissioner Butner succeeds Joan Story, who will remain on the Board. Commissioner Andreas Cluver was elected First Vice President by his colleagues on the Board. The Board elected Commissioner Michael Colbruno as Second Vice President. All three officers take over their new roles July 26.

This is Commissioner Butner’s second term as President. He previously held the role from July 2013 to July 2014. This past year he has been the Board’s First Vice President.

EAST AFRICA – On July 16, Rear Admiral Alfonso Pérez de Nanclares, (Spanish Navy) handed over the role of Operation Commander (DCOM) of the European Union's counter-piracy operation off the coast of Somalia, EU NAVFOR to Rear Admiral Giuseppe Rapese (Italian Navy). He joins from the Italian Navy General Staff having been promoted to Rear Admiral.
