Freight and Shipping Appointments and Departures Start and Finish with Container Groups

UK – Starting this week’s staff changes in the world of freight and shipping, Pentalver, the container supply, transport and redesign group, has appointed former Roadways Container Logistics Managing Director, Nick Matthews as its new General Manager of its Cannock Operations. He will be responsible for the 260 strong team as well as the site’s rail, storage and container refurbishment activities.

UK – The Dover Harbour Board has reappointed George Jenkins OBE as Chairman, to serve a further minimum term of one year, to start January 1, 2015. The port has also announced Steven Masters as the new Head of Marine Operations.

UK – LR Management Systems (LRQA) has appointed Jamie Thompson to the newly created role of Global Sales Director, effective since September 30. Joining from Virgin Media, Thompson now reports to Paul Graaf, LRQA COO and will sit on the LRQA Executive Leadership Team.

UK – Allport Cargo Services has announced the appointment of Charles McGurin as Joint Managing Director, serving alongside Danny Clayton. McGurin takes up his new role in December, Succeeding Jerry Gray who retires in January 2015. Gray will then take up the position as a Non-Executive Director.

As part of the company’s management restructure, in September 2015 Seafreight Divisional Managing Director, Kevin Witmore will also retire from his day-to-day duties and will serve Allport as Group Consultant.

UK – Matthew Williams has joined the International Chamber of Shipping as Senior Marine Adviser.

UK – Following the death of the Port of Tyne’s' former Chairman, Sir Les Elton, in July earlier this year, Hilary Florek has been appointed to succeed as Chairman of the Board of the Port of Tyne, effective immediately, with Dr. Jon Hargreaves CBE taking over Florek’s former role of Deputy Chairman.

UK – IJS Global has announced the appointment of Josette Wells to the newly created position of Director of Healthcare Service Solutions.

UK – Northgate Vehicle Hire has announced Steven Graham as the new Head of Workshop Delivery.

UK – Lots of moving on at Crossrail recently with Jayne McGivern appointed to the Board as a Non-Executive Director for a three-year term which started on September 1, 2014. Current Non-Executive Board members, Terry Hill CBE and Phil Gaffney have each been re-appointed for a further three-year term ending on August 31, 2017 and 31 March 31, 2017, respectively.

Heather Rabbatts CBE stepped-down from the Board on August 12, 2014 when her second three-year term expired, with Ian Brown CBE who left when his current three-year term expired on September 30, 2014. Simon Wright OBE joined Crossrail as Programme Director and member of the Crossrail Board on July 14, 2014 following the departure of Andy Mitchell.

GERMANY – Dr Uwe Lauber has been appointed to the Executive Board of Man Diesel & Turbo, effective since October 1. In his new role, Lauber will lead the entire sales and after sales activities of the company from Augsburg. Lauber succeeds Dr. Stephan Timmermann, who left the Executive Board by mutual agreement on September 30.

SINGAPORE – DENMARK – Nordic Tankers has announced two new members of its Executive Management Team. Current CEO of Thome Ship Management, Carsten Brix Ostenfeldt will join Nordic on January 1 as Senior Vice President and Head of the Technical Organisation. As of October 1, Henriette Schütze joined Nordic as CFO having left her position as CFO and Member of the Executive Board of Georg Jensen. Schütze succeeds Jesper Fors Holmark as CFO, while Holmark's parallel duties as CEO of Herning Shipping will be handed over to Nordic Tankers' CEO Per Sylvester Jensen.

US – Effective since the beginning of the month, Page International has promoted both Hamish Love and Brianne Chadziutko to the role of Ocean Export Manager, Bookings & Traffic.

US – OW Bunker has announced the appointment of Georgia Kounalakis to its physical supply operation in North America.

US – The Lynden family of companies has announced two new Executive level appointments, starting with Jason Jansen, who has been named President of LTI (liquid- and dry-bulk haulage) and the inventively named, Milky Way (bulk milk haulage). The company has also named former Regional Sales Manager for Lynden Transport in Vancouver/Portland area, Bill Johansen as Jansen’s replacement as the new President of Brown Line (temperature-controlled transportation).

SWITZERLAND – As detailed in full in our piece yesterday, Diego Aponte has succeeded his father Gianluigi Aponte at Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) to take over as President and CEO.
