Freight and Logistics Staff News Starts with a Sad Loss

EUROPE – This week’s staff changes in the freight and shipping industry starts with news from Kerry Logistics which has sadly announced the passing of Gary Wilcock, Managing Director of Europe, on June 21, after a short battle against cancer, at the age of 54. Under Wilcock’s management, Kerry Logistics Network (KLN) in Europe grew from a single business unit in the UK to a business which today operates in 11 European countries.

WORLDWIDE – Christopher Wiernicki, the Chairman, President and CEO of the American Bureau of Shipping, assumed the role of the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS) Chairman.

UK – DP World London Gateway appointed Andy Browning as Cargo Supply Chain Manager, effective June 29. He joins from JF Hillebrand, where he worked as Supply Chain and Logistics Solutions Development Manager.

UK – Associated British Ports Humber has welcomed Craig Barbour to the post of Dry Bulks Manager for Hull and Goole. Barbour's remit includes managing all dry bulk operations including biomass, agribulks, feeds, fertiliser and minerals.

UK – Sir Peter Hendy has been appointed as the new Chairman of Network Rail.

UK – The BMT Group has announced the appointment of New Zealand native Sir John Hood KNZM, as its new Chairman, effective October 1, following the retirement of Dr Neil Cross on September 30. Sir John Hood is a non-executive Director of BG Group plc and WPP plc, Chairman of Urenco Ltd (from which he will retire later this year), Matakina Ltd, and Study Group Ltd; President and Chief Executive Officer of the Robertson Foundation; and Chair of the Rhodes Trust and Teach For All.

UK – BiS Henderson has named Neil Adcock to its Senior Executive Team. Adcock joins BiS Henderson from Norbert Dentressangle Logistics (now part of XPO Logistics), where he held the position, Head of Solutions.

UK – Nigel Cook, Managing Director at Elddis Transport has been appointed Chairman of the High Cube Network for the next twelve months.

US – The Board of Directors of ITS Technologies & Logistics (ITSTL) has announced the appointment of Steven Rubin as Chief Executive Officer, effective since July 1. Rubin will be based in ITSTL’s Tinley Park, Illinois headquarters and will also become a member of the Board.

US – Eagle Bulk Shipping has appointed Gary Vogel as its new CEO and member of the Board of Directors, effective September 1, succeeding Stanley Ryan, who is to resume his position as an independent Director of the Company. Ryan was appointed CEO in March after the company’s former CEO Sophocles Zoullas resigned from his position.

INDIA – Agility Logistics has appointed Janik as CEO for its South Asia area, responsible for leading Agility’s Global Integrated Logistics business in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Janik will be based in Mumbai, India.
