US – UAE – Dubai headquartered freight and logistics group GAC has reinforced its shipping operations in the American offshore energy support field by opening another ships agency office in Galliano, Louisiana, in response to the increase of offshore oil & gas activity in the region. The company says the new location will enable it to better serve the needs of customers with vessels calling at the nearby ports of Fourchon, Morgan City and Amelia.

Port Fourchon is the region’s main port supporting offshore oil & gas activity, whilst Morgan City is considered the birthplace of the US offshore oil exploration industry with over 200 private dock facilities situated locally, and most of the tonnage handled at the ports is related to the oil & gas sector. The Galliano office is therefore strategically well placed at the heart of the action to attend GAC’s customers’ offshore construction, cargo and supply vessels calling at either port.

In addition to the new base in Galliano, GAC Shipping's network of offices within the US includes port agents at Houston, New Orleans, Mobile, Port Arthur, Pascagoula, Corpus Christi, Freeport TX and Tampa and the Galliano facility has a warehouse and outside storage to cater for the staging or storage of equipment or supplies, rather than trucking the material at short notice from Houston or New Orleans, plus the option for clients to hire office space if required for hands-on support during projects, mobilizations or demobilizations of their vessels at Fourchon. Darren Martin, GAC Shipping US General Manager, observed:

“This is an important new addition to our network of bases serving our customers. We are working closely with GAC Logistics in Houston to offer all our oil & gas customers our full range of services to support their offshore activities in the Gulf.”
