UK – WORLDWIDE – The age old adage ‘a picture paints a thousand words’ was never more true than when speaking about a product we have seen operating for the past couple of years which is capable of both saving time and enhancing safety, particularly when working in a freight or construction orientated environment. The Elebia Evo safety crane hook from Kent based Red Plant Ltd. has a unique set of features enabling the operator to manoeuvre and engage the hook whilst standing safely on the ground.

Falling whilst attaching loads remains the biggest single cause of accidents, including fatal ones, when working in areas such as multimodal transport yards and using one of these second generation hooks in place of the old ‘C’ style crane hook with latch, or a Liverpool style hook negates the necessity of clambering around atop a load to attach it securely. This rather witty video says more about the usefulness of the product than any written word.

We wrote last year of the precise specifications for this product  and, as can be seen, the hook is fitted with a magnetic field generator which draws up any unsecured loading eye into an upright position from where the hook itself can be engaged. The closure of the latch, or more properly stainless steel safety trigger, ensures the security of the bond between hoist and load whilst an LED display shows the operator the state of charge of the lithium battery supplying power to the motor which operates the hook and trigger.
