UAE – Abu Dhabi Ports Company’s (ADPC) Maritime Training Centre has been officially certified by Lloyd’s Register (LR) as an Approved Training Provider, making it the very first in the GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) region to offer a range of maritime training courses to this international standard.

The Maritime Training Centre, which complies with ISO quality standards, has been approved by Lloyd’s Register to provide a wide range of shipping and maritime courses, including Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) courses, navigational safety training courses, local port service training courses, nautical knowledge (IALA module 4) courses, channel familiarisation courses, and high speed craft navigation courses. Capt. Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, CEO of ADPC, commented:

“We are very proud to have been officially approved by Lloyd’s Register - a worldwide recognised quality assurance body. The approval confirms the high quality of our teaching programmes which are now attracting maritime professionals from across the GCC countries. All of our courses are designed in line with international standards, but the formal approval by Lloyd’s Register is an accolade that makes it official on a global scale.”

Having witnessed an explosion of air traffic both passenger and cargo in the recent past the Middle East region is currently seeing similar massive investment in maritime infrastructure with many analysts continuing to predict that the region will become a significant global ocean hub over the next two decades.
