Felixstowe Shuts in High Winds and Icy Storm

UK – Operation Stack, the Police system for queuing freight trucks had to be operated last night as Felixstowe container port was closed to all traffic. At the time of writing the port remains closed to all traffic but the situation will be reviewed in an hour or so (8 am Thursday). The weather means all RoRo and Ferry services have had to be suspended.

A review of other ports around the UK revealed that most were suffering from the extreme weather, with temperatures dipping to minus 18 degrees overnight, but it was problems of access on the road causing delays, rather than the severe weather affecting the ports.

It is suggested that drivers and shippers contact the relevant port office or agent before leaving to collect or deliver freight.

For Continental Ferry services use the HSG Ferry Guide or for internal UK Ferries use the Domestic Ferry Guide.
