UK – Taiwanese container shipping line Evergreen have incorporated Teesport into their Feederlink sailing schedule with immediate effect. The service ties in with the weekly shipping schedules the company runs between the Far East and Rotterdam.

Teesport is owned by PD Ports and houses Tesco’s new 1.2 million square foot import facility and Evergreen join Maersk, who also use the feeder route for their own Tesco bound, container import traffic. David Robinson, PD Ports’ group chief executive officer, said: “We are delighted to announce the collaboration with Evergreen, which we expect will be the start of a very long term and successful relationship.”

As reported last month PD Ports is currently developing its plans for the Northern Gateway Container Terminal which it is intended will handle 1.5 million TEU when fully operational. This is part of PD Ports overall plans to reduce costs and journey times for goods in transit to or from the North East of England.
