London and East Coast UK to the Continent Starts Soon

UK – Hardly a surprise as Unifeeder, which boasts it has the biggest container feeder and short sea network in Europe, has announced yet another new service to run from DP World's London Gateway as the two share the same parent organisation.

The service will connect the Thames side facility and the UK East Coast ports network as well as the Northern Range hinterland at Antwerp, Belgium and Dunkirk, France. The new weekly rotation is clearly aimed at an uncertain post Brexit Britain where many feel trailer freight to and from the EU may become difficult, particularly if driver accompanied.

Unifeeder says the service is a competitive alternative for customers shipping cargo between Europe and the UK as well as transhipment connections via London Gateway, with the Anna G due to be the first vessel to call at the end of February 2020. DP World Head of UK Ports, James Leeson, explains:

“This service will open up trade opportunities by providing alternative connections for more remote locations with the deep-sea channels. It is also good news for the environment by offering more opportunities for cargo to be moved by sea reducing the footprint of land transport. This service is a great opportunity for customers looking to create smarter and more sustainable supply chains.”
